Miedema Smart Grader 400 series
Miedema Smart Grader 400 series sets new standard for unwashed product
The Miedema Smart Grader 400 series sets a new standard when it comes to optimisation of the sorting process. The SG 400 sorts from four conveyors at the same time and can route the products to 3 to 12 different outputs. Because the machine can sort by size, shape and quality, the result is homogeneous sorting that cannot be matched by the human eye. And this system can process 10 tons per hour!
Accurate sorting based on size and quality
The SG 400 sorts washed and unwashed potatoes with a square mesh size of between 28 and 80 mm by size, shape and quality. A unique singulation system with vibrating axial rollers turns the tubers so the colour and infrared cameras can scan them on all sides and record the results. Because high resolution cameras are used, much more detailed scanning is possible than with competing systems. Energy-saving daylight LEDs provide stroboscopic lighting which is used for foolproof identification of discolourations, rhizoctonia, potato scab, cracks and other defects.
Vision software recognises and classifies
The user-friendly Vision software analyses the camera images and compares them to parameters entered by the user in order to determine the desired classes and the corresponding output channels.
When deviations are identified, the system automatically combines the images from the colour camera and infrared camera to accurately determine the class. To give you an idea of the Smart Grader's accuracy: sizes can be sorted in steps of 0.1 mm and quality in steps of 0.1% or 0.1 mm2.
The customer can easily create new sorting profiles containing parameters and settings for specific buyers. The sorted classes can also be redirected to different output channels at any time. Multiple classes can be sent to a single output or a single class can be distributed among multiple outputs – configuration is quick and easy. As you would expect, the system can also produce up-to-the-minute statistics, providing both the user and the buyer with a detailed report of how the batch has been sorted. It is this data management functionality, above all, that greatly contributes to the optimisation of the sorting process.
Counting, weighing and packaging are all possible
Once the four product streams have been scanned, they are placed on the conveyor that takes them to the correct output. The standard version of the Smart Grader has three outputs, but single-output expansion modules are available with which this number can be increased to a maximum of 12.
When a tuber reaches the correct output, it is blown off the conveyor by an air nozzle. An output control is available as an option that enables the customer to mix, count, weigh and even package batches (when used in combination with a crate or package weigher).
Operation and service via internet
All the Miedema Smart Graders have a network connection and can be connected to the internet. Via this online connection the customer can check the sorting process, view statistics, change parameters and select different sorting profiles, all from a remote location. Miedema can use this same internet connection to assist the customer with troubleshooting, change parameters, install software updates and perform other types of service procedures. When you enter a service contract with Miedema, you can be sure you will receive optimal support.
